If you have the kind of lock and handle pictured, this is easy to use, very secure, and I don't think it can be defeated!I live in HUD subsidized housing for low income seniors and the disabled. HUD has (in it's federal mandate) said that all other laws pertaining to landlord/tenant relations do NOT apply to HUD housing. The management feels it's within it's rights to break into my apartment, and worse yet, allow workmen that they do not know into my apartment when I am home alone asleep. My viewpoint is that these are total strangers to them, and for I know, they could let in a rapist or serial killer.I'm revising this to add that this will stop someone who is just curious or thinks it would be fun to break in, but really won't stop anyone who is actually determined to get in.The management of my apartment building broke in again today with this lock properly installed on the door. They kept working at it until they managed to get the end that actually attaches to the horizontal control to slide off onto the axil that it turns around. Once they accomplished that, it just unlocked as if the Grip Lock wasn't there.I would guess that it took them a few minutes, but this is only a deterrent, not a rea protection.I'm revising this again to say that I installed this device according to the directions provided with it, but the photo that's now with the item shows it installed differently, and not the way I originally did it. This looks like it would be much more secure, so I'm going to try it that way with the hopes that it may have been my fault that it failed.I'm 71 years old, and have felt safe everywhere I've lived until I moved here.I'm sure they're eventually going to discover that I'm using this and make me stop using it. According to HUD, they can make any rules they like, and I have to follow them or be evicted, which, for anybody who's eligible for this housing is a death sentence, but it's keeping me safe in the meantime.I'm also looking into getting a door alarm. I'm nearly deaf, and an alarm won't bother me, but should upset anyone who breaks in. Revision: I bought a door wedge (stopper) to use along with this, but it just arrived and I haven't put it on the door yet, so I can't report on that, but it will give me extra peace of mind in the meantime. I don't know how well the door wedge is going to work, but it's the cutest little thing!

1.0 out of 5 stars Design Flaw
Reviewed in the United States on September 10, 2020
This is a great concept! But could have been designed better. In the past, I've used duct tape to accomplish the same thing. I take a long strand of duct tape, roll it length-wise into a tubular shape with the sticky side out, then twist the duct tape into a rope like chord, and then strapping down the dead bolt to the door knob by wrapping it around in a loop, and being sure to tug down on the deadbolt in the locked position (see photos) I had even considered creating a similar product this one.

But this product has a design flaw, at least with regards my particular dead bolt. My deadbolt is flush up against the door. This Super Grip needs to get behind the dead bolt in order for it to work at all. Since my dead bolt is flush up against the door, the dead bolt can't slip inside the 'pocket' that's part of the strap. I called the company, they recognized the design flaw and had no fix. I returned the product. They could have at least put a disclaimer on the product description.

If they fix the design flaw, this would be an amazing product. Affordable, portable. If you have the proper dead bolt, buying this is a no-brain'er. If I had the proper dead-bolt or if this was designed differently, I would have bought one for the front door, one for the back door, and one for traveling.

I'll just go back to using my duct tape. See the attached photo.
